Ad360 Cookies Policy

Effective date: January 25, 2020

Thanks for entrusting Ad360 (“Ad360”, “Adventure Media”,  “we”) with your information. Holding on to your private information is a serious responsibility, and we want you to know how we're handling it. We work hard to protect the safety and privacy of your information, and want to explain in more detail how we do it to put you in control.

The controller responsible for the processing of your personal information in connection with the Service is Adventure Media SARL, 76 rue de la pompe, Paris 75116, France, privacy@ad360.media.

This Cookies Policy is a component of the overall Ad360 Privacy Policy, whcih has to be read in its entirety in conjunction to the Cookies Statement.

Ad360 Cookies Statement

Cookies are needed to make advertising more relevant to you. Without cookies, it’s harder for an advertiser to reach its audience, or to know how many ads were shown and whether their audiences like them and click on them. Many websites, such as news sites and blogs, partner with Ad360 to show ads to their visitors. Working with our partners, we may use cookies for a number of purposes, such as to stop you from seeing the same ad over and over again, to detect and stop click fraud and to show ads that are likely to be more relevant (such as ads based on your browsing history and interests).

We store a record of the ads that we serve in our logs. These server logs typically include your web request, IP address, browser type, browser language, the date and time of your request, and one or more cookies that may uniquely identify your browser. We store this data for a number of reasons, the most important of which are to improve our services and to maintain the security of our systems. We anonymise this log data by removing part of the IP address (after 9 months) and cookie information (after 18 months).

Our advertising cookies

To help our partners manage their advertising and websites, we offer products and services to help advertisers manage their ads. When you visit a page or see an ad that uses one of these products, either on our website or on other sites and apps, various cookies may be sent to your browser.

These may be set from a few different domains, including ad360.media or the domain of our partners’ sites. Some of our advertising products enable our partners to use other services in conjunction with ours (like an ad measurement and reporting service), and these services may send their own cookies to your browser. These cookies will be set from their domains.

See more detail about the types of cookies used by Ad360 and our partners below, as well as how you can turn off all cookies in your browser.

Other technologies used in advertising

Ad360’s advertising platform and our products may use other technologies, including HTML5, which are used to display rich, or interactive, ad formats. Your IP address may be used, for example, to identify your general location. We may also select better advertisements to show you based on information about your computer or device, such as your device model, browser type or sensors in your device like the accelerometer.

Location

Ad360’s platform and advertising-related products may receive or infer information about your location from a variety of sources. For example, your IP address may be used to identify your general location; your mobile device may communicate a precise location; we may infer your location from your browsing history. Ad360 uses location information in our ads products to infer demographic information, to improve the relevance of the ads you see, to measure ad performance and to report aggregate statistics to advertisers.

Advertising identifiers for mobile apps

To serve ads in services where cookie technology may not be available (for example, in mobile applications), we may use technologies that perform similar functions to cookies. Sometimes Ad360 links the identifier used for advertising on mobile applications to an advertising cookie on the same device in order to coordinate ads across your mobile apps and mobile browser. This can happen, for example, when you see an ad within an app that launches a web page in your mobile browser. This also helps us make our ads more relevant to you and increase the effectiveness of our advertisers campaigns.

Types of Cookies Ad360 uses

We use different types of cookies to run Ad360 websites and our platform and advertising technology products and services. Some or all of the cookies identified below may be stored in your browser. You can view and manage cookies in your browser (though browsers for mobile devices may not offer this visibility).

Category of use

Example

Preferences

We use preferences cookies to remember how you want your settings to be set on our websites or products. These cookies help us set the way the site or product behaves or looks to enhance your user experience. For example, your preferred language, or display settings will be stored and used again for your next visit. These cookies can also assist you in changing text size, font and other parts of web pages that you can personalise.

Loss of the information stored in a preference cookie may make the website experience less functional but should not prevent it from working.

Security

We use security cookies to authenticate users, prevent fraudulent use of login credentials and protect user data from unauthorised parties.

For example,we use specific cookies to encrypt your account ID and sign-in times. These values are digitally signed, so that they are not vulnerable. They help authenticating you and blocking malevolent attacks.

Processes

We use process cookies to help make the website work properly and securely. Some services, like navigating around web pages or accessing your confidential data, require these cookies. Without these cookies, the website cannot function properly.

Advertising

We use cookies to make advertising more relevant for users and more efficient for advertisers. Cookies are useful to determine which advertisements to select based on what’s relevant to a user, to improve reporting on campaign performance and to avoid showing repetitive ads that you have already seen.

We also use one or more cookies for advertising that we serve across the web. One of the main advertising cookies on non-Ad360 sites ia stored in browsers under the domain ad360.media. We use cookie names such as AD360, AD3, IDE, ANID, DSID, FLC, AID, TAID and exchange_uid, or such other names as indicated in this policy.

Sometimes advertising cookies may be set on the domain of the site that you’re visiting. In the case of advertising that we serve across the web, cookies (e.g. cookies named ‘__360ads’ or ‘__360ac’) may be set on the domain of the site that you’re visiting. Unlike cookies that are set on our own domains, these cookies can’t be read by Ad360 when you’re on a site other than the one on which they were set. They serve purposes such as measuring interactions with the ads on that domain and preventing the same ads from being shown to you too many times.

Ad360 also uses conversion cookies (e.g. cookies named ‘__360cl’), whose main purpose is to help advertisers determine how many times people who click on their ads end up taking action on their site (e.g. making a purchase). These cookies allow Ad360 and the advertiser to determine that you clicked the ad and later visited the advertiser’s site. Conversion cookies are not used by Ad360 for personalised ad targeting and persist for a limited time only. Some of our other cookies may be used to measure conversion events as well.

Session State

Websites often collect information about how users interact with a website. This may include the pages users visit most often and whether users get error messages from certain pages. We use these so-called ‘session state cookies’ to help us improve our services, in order to improve our users’ browsing experience. Blocking or deleting these cookies will not render the website unusable.

These cookies may also be used to anonymously measure the effectiveness of PPC (pay per click) and affiliate advertising.

Analytics

We use analytics cookies to measure and understand how you’re using our websites or products. We may use various third-party analytics services for this purpose, such as Google Analytics, or a similar service.

Google Analytics is Google’s analytics tool that helps website and app owners to understand how their visitors engage with their properties. It may use a set of cookies to collect information and report site usage statistics without personally identifying individual visitors to Google. The main cookie used by Google Analytics is the ‘_ga’ cookie.

In addition to reporting site usage statistics, data collected on Ad360 properties by Google Analytics may also be used, together with some of the advertising cookies described above, to help show more relevant ads on our properties or across the web and to measure interactions with the ads that we show.

Learn more about  Analytics cookies and privacy information.

We use various domains to set cookies used in our advertising products, including the following domains and some country-specific versions of these domains: ad360.media. Domains from our partners may be used as well to place cookies.

To learn how to remove cookies and stop your browser from receiving cookies, read the next section.

How do I turn cookies off?

It is usually possible to stop your browser accepting cookies, or to stop it accepting cookies from a particular website. All modern browsers allow you to change your cookie settings. You can usually find these settings in the 'options' or 'preferences' menu of your browser. To understand these settings, the following links may be helpful:

If you are primarily concerned about third party cookies generated by advertisers, you can turn these off by going to the Your Online Choices site: https://www.youronlinechoices.com/

You can also visit the trade body representing these advertising platforms for more information: Network Advertising Initiative: http://www.networkadvertising.org/

They have provided a site where you can control all third-party online advertising: https://optout.networkadvertising.org/

Please note that there are many more networks listed on this site than those that we use at Ad360.

In addition to turning off cookies, here are some steps that mobile users can take to limit ad tracking or reduce interest-based ads, even in mobile environments and for advertising-related tracking techniques which do not rely on cookies:
